Description
The initial focus of the archives (dating back to 1920) was on the history of the Communist Party of the USSR and VLKSM [All-Soviet Communist Youth Union], later expanding to include other fields of the social and political history of Russia and other FSU republics.
The archives comprises 685 fonds and collections, more than 2.1 million archival documents, 160 thousand museum items.
The archives possesses a museum that presents documents and materials on the history of the revolutionary, labor and communist movements of the late 18th through 20th centuries.
