Description
General: The archives was renamed in 1994. Formerly, it was the archives of the Ukrainian KGB.

The archival holdings represent two groups: historical documents, and current documents. The historical documents come from 1917-1999, starting with the 1917 revolution. They are compiled into 82 fonds, and more than 300,000 items; 41 film items and photo documents.

The following documents are of special interest to researchers:
-Documents of the Ukrainian KGB high-rank leaders;
-Documents dealing with social, economic, political, cultural and religious processes in the Ukrainian society;
-Documents on World War II and the participation of Ukrainian national organizations in the military and political activities;
-Documents about activities of various social movements and political parties in Ukraine.
